Building

The school in its current location and buildings opened in 1964 and there was major development in 1999 to extend the school by adding new library, main entrance and reception area. Further external work was carried out in 2003 and an extra classroom/community room opened in 2004. Additional improvements to classrooms were carried out in 2006.

Grounds and Surroundings

The school is set in magnificent grounds and surroundings giving excellent opportunities for sports and outdoor learning.

We have a playground and large sports field, an adventure play area and a pond. During 2007 staff, parents and pupils have helped to establish raised garden beds to enable the children to grow vegetables and other plants. The grounds are currently being developed further, to expand our outdoor learning and to provide a stimulating and inspirational environment in which pupils will have fun and learn. Some very exciting new features are currently being considered and our PTA (Friends of East Meon School) has been very supportive in raising funds towards this project. Parent and pupil consultation has been key in the decision making.

We also take advantage of our privileged position in the Hampshire countryside to take the children’s learning into their surroundings by local field trips and farm visits..
