This section is devoted to the many activities organised by volunteers for the community such as East Meon Cinema (above).
East Meon Cinema operates from September to June, featuring a movie each month. Meon Matters is the bi-monthly free village magazine distributed to all homes in the village. East Meon Garden Club runs a rich programme of talks, visits and events of which the twice-yearly Gardens Open attracts visitors from all over Hampshire. ..... More>> |
There are several charities which support life in East Meon.
The Forbes Almshouses are the longest-established institution in East Meon for administering help to the poor and elderly. The Care Group arranges transportation to surgeries and hospitals for people who are unable to get there by themselves. The Good Causes Fund makes donations to a variety of village activities. ..... |
East Meon has excellent sports facilities and active teams. This section provides fixture lists and photographs of year-round sports events and activities organised to help fund them.
The Cricket Club has had an outstanding summer, only losing one game. The soccer team is doing very well on its new Hampshire League standard pitch and pavilion; it won the Betteridge cup in 2006. East Meon Golf Society meets monthly at a village pub to discuss its fixtures at a variety of Hampshire courses. The village hall adjoins the village green and children's play area. It has one large hall and a small hall attached.
There is a well-equipped kitchen, toilets (including disabled and baby-changing facilities) and a stage. There is wheelchair access and a disabled parking bay. We hold an alcohol licence for up to 26 events in the year. Activities held in the Hall include regular bookings for the school, beavers, luncheon club, yoga, dancing dogs, mothers and toddlers, yough club and table tennis as wel as parish assemblies, garden club meetings and popular film nights. East Meon is an active village. The Green plays host to large-scale events such as the Country Fair held on the first Bank Holiday each May, there are other open-air attractions such as the Church Fete in July and the School Fete in June. The Garden Club organises Open Gardens twice a year and an Annual Show and there are numerous other occasions to attract visitors and villagers alike ..... More>> |
